Shamrocks go to Regionals in VA
The Shamrocks ended their season heading into the playoffs, territory that wasn’t unfamiliar as the Shamrocks have made it to the playoffs a number of times over the past five plus years. This year they had a final game against undefeated Albany in the beginning of November, after some back and forth tries the Shamrocks were able to take the game.
This pushed the Shamrocks into a new title they haven’t held before - Women's D2 NERFU Champions!
They had winter training to work on their strength and conditioning, made it outside for just a few short weeks of practices before flying down to Richmond Virginia for the Sweet 16 Atlantic Super Regionals. Worcester was there competing alongside a number of other New England clubs. The first game was against White Horse Rugby from Pheonixville - the first half was a little more structured with back and forth tries, however in the second half White Horse ran away with the game and won 66 - 19. This pushed them into the top 8, leaving the Shamrocks in the consolation bracket.
Sunday morning they stretched out and got right back into it playing New Haven, after a rainy match and a lot of effort New Haven ended up taking the win 20 - 5.
The Shamrocks have their heads up and are looking forward to the fall season with hopes of working their way back to Regionals and hopefully on to Nationals
